Ninnaji temple is the former Omuro Palace originally built during the Heian period(794-1185) and one of the World Heritage Sites in Kyoto.
Here are various types of buildings with two contrasting gardens in the expansive grounds.
The big main gate is called “Nio-mon Gate” in which Agyo-zo and Ungyo-zo statues were elected. Agyo-zo means the beginning and Ungyo-zo means the end.
One of the four five-story pagodas in Kyoto also is also situated in the premises and we can see the inside of the building by using a QR code through smartphones.
Spring is the busiest season because Omuro-zakura is in full bloom shortly after Someiyoshino, ordinary cherry tree.
