Refreshing green of maple trees can be seen at Kitanotenmangu in the early spring. In this area, historic embankment called “Odoi” remains almost intact. In the 16th century, the center part of Kyoto was surrounded by 23-kirometer “Odoi” embankment to protect the city against floods of Kamo river, and enemies.
