Southmost shrine in Japan

“Gongendo” is the southmost shrine in Japan, located in Ishigaki Island. It was built in 1614 as a guardian shrine of this area at the same time of Torinji temple next to this shrine.

Designs of various parts of the shrine are very different from ones of Japan’s main Island.
