Tofukuji Sanmon gate

Using an opportunity of the special exhibition, I entered the Sanmon gate of Tofukuji that is a national treasure and usually not open to the public. I wanted to post some information including photos at first but taking photos is strictly prohibited about neither the inside of the building nor distant scenery from its 2nd floor.

Sanmon literally means three gates, Ku, Muso, and Musa, to attain enlightenment through them.

Its gallery houses Amida Buddha with coronet on his head and his 16 disciples including his son, and paintings of angels on the ceiling. All of them were fantastic.
